History

Luhansk State College of Economics and Trade has a long history. The school originates from a trade school, which was opened in Luhansk in 1901. In 1919, a socio-economic school was opened on its basis, which in 1922 was transformed into a cooperative technical school. His organization was entrusted to Mikhail Pavlovich Kostrikin, born in 1882, a graduate of the Moscow Pedagogical and Commercial Institutes.

The technical school had two departments: organizational-inspection and trade-operational, and carried out training of employees of cooperation: instructors-organizers, instructors-culturalists, instructors-commodity experts and inspectors-economists.

The training period was 3 years.

During the training, students underwent 4 internships in cooperative organizations. The technical school enjoyed the material and organizational support of the Vukoopsoyuz and Glavprofobra. The technical laboratory and laboratory of commodity science, offices of: cooperative sciences, accounting, social sciences worked in technical school. Later, a museum of commodity science was opened in the technical school. The library fund was 25 thousand. books. The canteen of the student cooperative worked. Non-residents were provided with dormitories. Students received a scholarship.

The teaching staff consisted of 20 people. The teachers of the technical school included graduates of Kiev and Moscow universities, among them the sons of the Luhansk mayor Kholodilin – Sergei Nikolaevich and Nikolai Nikolaevich. The subject of art graphics was taught by a graduate of the Stroganov School.

In the late 1920s, the number of college students doubled, and in the late 1930s, it quadrupled.

In the mid-1930s, the technical school was renamed the Soviet Trade Technical School, for a short time the work of the technical school was moved to Starobelsk, and during the war it was terminated.

In 1943 the technical school resumed its work. The school did not have premises, and its work was organized in several schools in the city.

In the early 50’s, a school building and a dormitory were built on the central street of Luhansk – Sovetskaya.

From 1935 to 1962 the technical school was headed by Boris Vladimirovich Martynov, a participant in the Great Patriotic War.
